Adoptable Animals
Adoption Process
Adoption is as simple as: apply, get approved, show us your setup, and pick up your new family member!
- We’re a foster-based rescue and don’t have a public storefront, but once you’re approved, we’re happy to arrange a meet-and-greet before finalizing adoption.
- Each animal has specific care needs and minimum enclosure requirements. We believe in raising the bar for reptile care and encourage enclosures that go beyond outdated norms.
- First time reptile owner? No worries! We are happy to work with you to make sure you get properly set up.
Adoptable Animals:

Sploot
Bearded Dragon - 10 months old
315g • 16in
Adoption Fee: $50
Sub-Adult • Good eater • Independent • Calm
Sploot is very sweet and perfect for anyone looking for a calm dragon who loves to sit and bask. She’s independent, a great eater, and though she was initially cautious of hands coming towards her, she has made a lot of progress with us and now loves her time outside of the tank. If you want crazy high energy and super cuddly, she may not be the dragon for you. However, if you’re looking for a dragon that is cool, calm, and collected, look no further.

Doobie
Bearded Dragon - 1.5 yrs old
350g • 17in
Adoption Fee: $100
Adult • Goofy • Sweet • Active • Picky at times
She was in rough shape when she first came to us, being severely underweight and having a rotted tail. Since then she has gotten the vet care she needed and made a full recovery. She is very expressive and active and she needs her out side of tank time! Dubias aren’t her favorite, but she does great with most other bugs and her salads. Consider adopting her if you are looking for a goofy leatherback with a backstory!

Lemon
Leopard Gecko - 11 yrs old
50g • 6in
Adoption Fee: $50
Petite • Tong Fed • High Energy • Not Handleable
Lemon came to us with an eye abscess, stuck shed, and he was very underweight. He has since received the vet care he needed and today he is as good as new and is looking forward to finding his forever home! This crazy little night owl is an enthusiastic eater, eating any bug you give him so long as you help him along with some assistance from the tongs. Lemon is a favorite here at Herp Habitat and we’re excited for him to find a great new home.

Pickle
Leopard Gecko - ? yrs old (Adult)
70g • 8in
Adoption Fee: $50
Adult • Occasionally picky • Handleable • Great hunter
Pickle originally came from a cohab situation with his brother, Obama. Like his brother, he’s very friendly and easy to handle. He can be a bit picky, but when he eats, he’s a very skilled hunter! No tong feeding required. He also loves exploring his enclosure and is excited to find his forever home. Interested in adopting Pickle? Apply today!

Zucchini
Ball Python - 3 yrs old
430g • 24in

Zucchini is as sweet as they come! This little guy is definitely on the small side for ball pythons so we are working on getting his weight and his strength up a bit before he’s adoption. He is very curious and enjoys being handled. He always will check you out, climb up to you and flick his tongue on your face to check you out. If you are looking for a sweet ball python Zucchini might just be your guy!

At Herp Habitat, our priority is placing animals in homes where they can thrive. To ensure this, all adoption requests are carefully reviewed. Please take a moment to read through our guidelines below. By submitting an application, you agree to these terms.
1. Our Right to Decline Applications
We reserve the right to deny any adoption application at our discretion. This includes applications we determine may present potential risks to the animal’s well-being—even if all answers appear technically correct. Our decision-making is always centered around the best interests of the animal.
2. Reevaluation of Approved Applications
Even after an application has been approved, we reserve the right to reverse that decision at any point prior to the transfer of ownership. As long as we maintain legal ownership of the animal, we are committed to ensuring the most suitable placement.
3. Non-Discrimination Policy
We do not and will never discriminate based on race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics. Our only concern is the quality of care the animal will receive.
4. Multiple Yellow Flags
We may deny an application based on a pattern of concerns—what we refer to as “multiple yellow flags.” Examples include vague or evasive answers, visible disinterest, signs of hostility, attempts to rush the process, or behavior that gives us reason to believe the animal may not be properly cared for.
5. Our Opposition to “Collections”
We prioritize individualized care and quality of life for every animal. Because of this, we typically do not adopt out to large reptile collections. High-volume environments can compromise care and lead to issues in the event that a change in life circumstances makes you unable to care for your animals.
6. Resubmitting After a Denial
If your application is denied, you may be invited to submit a revised application. However, please note that reversing a denial is uncommon and not guaranteed. We reserve the right to maintain a denied status even after resubmission.
7. Purpose of Adoption Fees
Adoption fees are not for profit. They exist to deter scammers, resellers, and those who may not be ready for the financial responsibility of pet ownership.
8. Fraudulent or Harmful Information
If we discover any intentionally falsified, misleading, or harmful information in your application, you will be permanently banned from adopting through us. We may also share this information with other rescues or animal welfare organizations to protect animals across the community.
