Our Process

Step 1 – Apply and receive initial approval on your adoption application from us.

Step 2 – Submit photos/videos or your finalized enclosure and receive final approval.

Step 3 – Pick up your new family member! Pick ups are usually in public meetup spots.

We strongly encourage you read all policies and requirements prior to submitting an adoption application. Applications are approved or denied based on the following criteria. All decisions are made with the animals’ best interests in mind. THANK YOU for considering adoption!

Apply to Adopt

1. Age Requirement

Adopter must be 18 years or older. This goes for both the adopter, and the primary care provider.

2. Enclosure Requirements

For reptile enclosures, bigger is (almost always) better! Volume is the primary thing we look at, but we also take into consideration the vertical/horizontal space, material, and top vs front opening.

  • Leopard Geckos – 40 gal min.
  • Bearded Dragons – 120 gal min.
  • Ball Pythons – 120 gal min (for full sized adults)
  • Other Species – Feel free to reach out!

3. Research Prior to Applying

While we are happy to help and offer suggestions, adopters are expected to have already researched proper husbandry, care requirements, diet, and species specific needs prior to applying.

4. No Shipping Policies

We do not ship animals.

5. Veterinary Care

Regular vet care with a qualified veterinarian is required. Adopters should research and find a qualified exotic vet in their area prior to adopting. Click here for our list of exotic vets in Wisconsin.

6. Denied Applications

Denied applications are generally not reconsidered, especially if we feel the adopter is negligibly unprepared or planned to provide inadequate care.

7. Large Collections

While we value experience, we do not encourage large collections and may deny adoptions if an animal would not receive adequate individualized care.

8. AI Responses

Use of AI to answer questions on the form may disqualify your application. We want to hear from you, not a chatbot, to ensure that you have done adequate research and are qualified to provide care.
